Senior Cat Needs Home!!

Charlie is in his “senior” years.  Attached is a photo of him a bit younger.  His family has split up and there is no longer a home for him.  He is being shuffled from place to place, and has begun to overgroom in his anxiety about his unsettled life.  He has also gained weight to compensate for the affection he was used to getting and no longer gets.  He doesn’t want to be cooped up, and does enjoy a fresh air stroll every day. If I were lucky enough to have 9 lives, I’d be willing to bet eight of them that at some point in the last six months, you’ve grabbed your back or neck and thought  “I need a massage!”.  Not only is massage a way to pamper ourselves, it can help us rid our bodies of pain and toxins.   After all, our bodies are comprised of bones, muscle, tendons, ligaments and connective tissue and plainly stated, that stuff breaks down. Does my pet have alzheimers?

Dogs and Cats may indeed suffer from something similar to what we humans know as Alzheimers.   It’s called CDS or Cognitive Dysfunction Syndrome.   Many diseases and health issues with our pets that have never been recognized before, are surfacing because our pets are living longer now then in past generations.   In years past, many pets were kept outside facing the perils most inside pets do not face.   Additionally, veterinary care was minimal and pet just simply faced more issues that potentially shortened their lifetime.   Though there are disputes that diets were more natural and pets were healthier because of that, they weren’t receiving the comforts that most receive now.
