Cats can indeed be trained to use their nails on designated items in the household… it just takes a little patience and creativity.

Thanks for the voice of reason and the demonstration of how easily cats can be encouraged to use scratching posts. There is no need for declawing at all, amputation of the final toe joints is never the answer, kindness and patience achieve far better results than major surgery.
I hope this very good video educates those people who think it’s acceptable to have a supposed to be last resort operation of the amputation of 10 healthy toe ends,that with the correct scratching materials,this cruelty is totally unneccessary.
Cats need their claws for walking, grooming,exercising, playing and self defence.
